The County provides Weed Abatement services by contract to the following cities:

  • Campbell
  • Cupertino
  • Gilroy
  • Los Altos Hills
  • Los Gatos
  • Milpitas
  • Monte Sereno
  • Morgan Hill
  • Palo Alto
  • Santa Clara
  • Saratoga
  • San Jose - only undeveloped/vacant parcels within the city of San Jose city limits
  • All unincorporated areas of the County

Service requests for hazards on parcels that have structures built on them within the San Jose city limits are handled by San Jose City Code Enforcement at (408) 277-4528.

Each city located in Santa Clara County is assigned a Tax Rate Area code by the assessor's office.

To determine/verify your jurisdiction/Tax Rate Area, have your street address ready and follow these steps:

  • By Phone: Contact the Assessor’s office at (408) 299-5500.
  • By Web: Go to the Property Assessment Information System
    • Scroll down the page, read the disclaimer, and hit accept.
    • Follow the instructions; enter either the APN or your street address.
    • Scroll down for search tips and other instructions.

The Tax Rate Area is displayed in the middle of the assessment roll information window that appears from your search results. You can also view an assessor’s property map by selecting the "assessor’s map" link located next to your displayed property address.
